Uninspired

Ever have those days where you just can't think of anything interesting to write? I'm usually pretty good at turning the ordinary workings of everyday life into something somewhat interesting, but lately, I'm completely uninspired. Our weather has been crazy, which has been messing with my migraines in a major way. I think it's all affecting my mood, too.

For my faithful readers, please bear with me. Everything here is fine (except for the stupid headaches); I'm just, well, uninspired. Hopefully, this will pass quickly.

Speaking of migraines, a friend who also suffers from them mentioned that plants in the bedroom have been shown to have some effect in the reduction of migraine. Anyone know of any good plants that don't need much sunlight (my bedroom gets very little) and won't hurt plant-chomping kitties?

I think most, if not all, of the air cleaning plants can be harmful to cats. If you're bent on getting some, you might consider putting some on wall hangers, perhaps out of reach of certain mischievous kitties.

We have at least one houseplant in every room of our house, and my wife has seen a small reduction in overall number of headaches. Here's a Wikipedia list of air filtering plants, as determined from a NASA study.

I am not sure about the plants which are not harmful to kitties, but I do know that bamboo doesn't need much of sunlight or even don't need to be watered every day. Hope you feel better soon.

Check on the pet-safe-ness of this, but a spider plant is very hardy. You could hang it and that would make it inacessible to kitties.

I second the bamboo. My kitties love to munch on mine, so it looks kind of sad, but it's never hurt the kitties.
Bamboo actually *prefers* little-to-no sun. I keep mine in a bathroom that doesn't have a window and it loves it in there (except for getting chewed on by cats, of course!).

I just checked out JunkMale's link to the air filtering plants. The list includes English Ivy, which I'm pretty sure IS poisonous to cats.
The list also includes peace lilly. I'm not sure if peace lillies are poisonous to cats or not (I should probably check since we have one), but I can tell you that the cats NEVER bother it, so it must not taste very good ;)

I think peace lily is bad for cats.

Just one counter-thought: if you are allergic to mold, plants in the bedroom are a bad plan. My husband sometimes get migraines, but is allergic to mold too, so this idea wouldn't work for us.

(You don't have to see the mold for it to be an issue. If you've got a damp, living plant, it's there.)

Plants? Really? Oh, I will try anything right now! For a few months things seemed to even out and now they are back to being out of control again. Just this morning DH woke me up with a migraine pill in his hand...he said I have been rocking back and forth since about 4AM...nice.

Going to have to try the plant thing...

Well, our kitty seems to know which plants to eat. He has never touched the English ivy, but he killed several spider plants by nibbling them down to the potting soil! Must be tasty!

JunkMale, thanks for that link! Also, thank you to those of you who have given me your recommendations and reports of your own cats' reactions. Much appreciated!
