Small Blessings in the Midst of Trial
With Calvin's frequent vet visits (including one today), these cats are costing us a lot of money lately. A lot. To the point that I finally understand the point of pet insurance. Don't get me wrong; we made a commitment to take care of them when we adopted them, so we'll pay what we need to. But like sick humans, sick pets can break the budget.
That's why I was so excited to find Feline Pine at Albertson's the other day for only $2.75/bag. Y'all, I ordinarily pay $10.99/bag for this stuff at Petsmart. Albertson's had a clearance table full of products that I guess they're not going to carry anymore in their stores, and our brand of cat litter was among the stuff. I bought them out. It was only 4 bags, but that was a savings of $30 or so.
I found myself sitting in my car in the parking lot of the grocery store saying a prayer of thanks to God for the small blessings, even if those blessings come in the form of the litter for my cats' potty. Sometimes it's the tiniest things that can be the biggest encouragement and reminder that the Lord cares, even about the day-to-day stuff.

I think that sometimes it is the little things that makes our lives great. I'm so glad you noticed the blessing.
I love it when God reveals Himself in things like that! No detail is too small for Him! :)
Sorry Calvin is sick. I spent an insane amount of money on one of our rabbits over a two year period- I feel your pain!
That is great, sorry that you are going through a tough time with the cats.
You are so right. I think learning to notice and enjoy those little things makes life so much better.
I hope things get better with your cats, though I believe Calvin's is a long term problem. You are definitely doing your best for them. :)

I'd be dancing in the aisles if I found kitty litter for $2.75. That's awesome! God is good!
They do cost a lot. I took Bella to the vet yesterday and came home with a bag of a different kind of VERY EXPENSIVE food that will hopefully help her allergy (or what they're pretty sure is an allergy). But she's worth it. She brings a whole lot of joy into my life.
Love the way your boys are curled up like little fur cushions. I want to bury my face in their furry hides!
Gosh, don't get me started on vet bills. Shelly's cardiology hospitalization cost more than I've spent on my own health care for the last several years combined! But it was worth it to have two more months with her.
Mifune is quite healthy so far. It's amazing that she spent so much time in the alley and didn't catch anything but a pile o' fleas, who had taken their leave of her by the time we got her.
Glad to hear Calvin is feeling better... even if he's a tad (a lot?) groggy!
