Calvin's Latest Trip to the Vet
We need prayer.
Calvin was obviously not feeling well on Sunday, and I discovered that he'd been using parts of the guest room as an extra litterbox. *sigh* I took him to the vet first thing Monday morning.
He received an IV for dehydration, we're doubling his daily antibiotic because he has yet another bladder infection, and his calcium is high, but his phosphorus is not. That last bit really means nothing to me, but I was told that high calcium with normal phosphorus can indicate a parathyroid problem.
Or cancer.
Calvin's blood has been sent off to an independent lab to determine what's going on. And now we wait.

Oh I feel your pain. :-( I have totally been there with Lewis - the tests, the scare of cancer. We never did find out why his calcium was high. :-(
How old is Calvin anyway?
I hope it turns out to be nothing. *hug*
He's 13.5, we think. He's a rescue kitty, so his age is approximate.
I didn't realize that Lewis had high calcium, too. Did he ever start feeling better?
Luvin' the cat in the bag shot - the medical stuff, not so much.
Poor boy. Yes, I will keep Calvin in my prayers. Do update on the lab results, ok?
Sweet Calvin is in our prayers for perfect healing. He is a beautiful boy.
Warmly,
Tracey

My prayers are with Calvin and the rest of your family.
I guess Lewis is better now. He's still not eating like he used to, but I don't think he's as thin as he was. Or maybe he is and we've just gotten used to it. I don't know. Poor kitty has kinda gotten placed on the back burner with Savannah's arrival.
Yeah his calcium levels were high, but the vet couldn't figure out what was wrong. He was only 4 1/2 years old so cancer would have been highly unusual. We ran tons of tests and ruled out everything obvious. She referred us to a specialist, but I just don't have that kind of money! Especially at the same time as buying a house. Since he acts okay, we haven't done anything else for him healthwise.
