Messy Maintenance

The dryer hasn't been working very efficiently, but we don't have a typical dryer vent that is easily cleaned out. The washer and dryer are in a closet in the middle of the house. The vent runs up the wall and out the roof.

A snaking tool did the trick, but what a mess! We've lived here almost 10 years, and this is the first time we've gone up the wall vent. At the end of the snaking, we had a huge pile of dusty lint. Ick. That stuff flew everywhere. Oh, the perpetual joys of homeownership.

Hopefully, though, my dryer will actually dry things in a timely manner now!

If that doesn't help your dryer, my Dad is an appliance repairman. You could give him a call & tell him your part of our Star Wars group (and you are :) ) and he could possibly give you some tips on what could be wrong. Let me know if you need his number.

Hubby is a home fixit guy and this is one of his specialties! He even wrote an article in his newsletter about how much money you can save by cleaning out your dryer vent. Ca-ching!!

Your dryer should work much faster now.
Our dryer vent is about the same way and my husband recently rerouted the vent out to the garage. I have to open the side door on the garage when I dry clothes so the garage does not steam up. But the dryer works so fast and efficiently now.

hope yours does too.
And if it dries the clothes in a shorter cycle, you'll use less electricity too.
