Domesticity

I love laundry. However, I can't say that I love laundry when the cat gives it to me to do. (Calvin's been peeing on the bed again. Twice in the past 2 weeks. *sigh*) But for some reason, in spite of the fact that I stayed up past 3am with some of the laundry, spent much of the next day doing it, and had a trip to the laundromat for the pillows he nailed, I still like the laundry drying on the rack.

Guess it's a good thing I can find the good in this situation!

Is it bad that this is the favorite room in my house? And it's not even a room:

Seriously, I love my linen closet in all its neat perfection. Too bad the rest of my house isn't like this! When company is over, I'd really like to be able to take them straight to the linen closet, but that would just be weird.

I found this little plaque at a fabric store, of all places. Sums up my sentiments nicely, at least as far as our home is concerned:

And now I need to go be domestic, as my house needs to be cleaned. I've started my annual tutoring gig this week, and my schedule is all wonky. As always, I'm reminded of what a blessing it is to be a SAHW most of the time.

It makes me laugh that your favorite "room" is your linen closet!

I love to do laundry so much that I do my former roommate's laundry! Whoops, did I just say that out loud? Dishwasher-loading I have down to a tetris-like science. It is a shame I don't feel the same way about washing the floor, cleaning the bathroom, scrubbing the baseboads, dusting, tidying, and generally not leaving a chaotic mess in my wake.

I like the sign's saying...but I think the fishie makes it :)

We don't have linen closet -- just a section of our master bedroom closet for our sheets and towels. And I have to say that my "linen shelves" are, by far, the most organized and most attractive part of my house.

In order to take my houseguests back there, we'd have to go down to the farthest end of the hallway, to the far side of the rear-most bedroom, to see it. Regrettably, it's not on the tour, but it looks so cool!

Glad to hear someone else likes doing laundry! It is always great to do things around the house that give you instant gratification ;)

By the way where did you get your cool drying rack?

Eliza, the drying rack is from IKEA. It's super-sturdy, can fold out to different sizes, holds a ton of laundry, and it's CHEAP. Like $17 cheap. My other drying rack is flimsier, holds fewer clothes, and cost me $30 at Target. I love IKEA!

I so wish we had an IKEA here. It was one of my favorite things to do in LA when my husband lived there!

You are so fortunate to love laundry! I hate it. We have no dryer & it is so damp, thus one load is a three day drying project. They always smell musty to me even then... heh.
