The vet suggested a couple of new foods, and I ordered this one:
I chose Royal Canin simply because I could buy a small-ish bag, which means it was less expensive than a larger bag of a different brand. (It irritates me to have to buy a big bag of food, only to find that my cat won't touch it.) When it arrived, I opened it in Calvin's presence, and he stuck his face in to get a whiff. Then he got all excited. My cat dived into his food bowl once it was filled with the new food! That was late afternoon one day last week, and that evening he must have gone back 5 or 6 times to eat.
I think my boy has been hungry.
Several days later, he's still eating well:
To make this even better, Doogie's sensitive tummy hasn't had a problem with the new food. He's keeping the food down! I'm feeling optimistic.
I went ahead and ordered more. I hope his happiness over this food lasts. His pickiness isn't cheap. I've spent $120 on cat food in the past week. I haven't even spent that much on people food lately, including eating out!
Every day, I fear I'm getting just a little bit closer to becoming a Crazy Cat Lady.

I know the feeling. But I'd rather have all the joys and amusements of life with fur children than, say, hand-harvested sea salt :)

Glad to hear you found a food that Calvin will eat, and that both cats like it. It's worth all that money to know the cats are healthy. (or at least that's what I tell myself after a vet bill!)
Should I email you about that mac and cheese recipe, or will it get on the blog one of these days? Not to be a pest....
Oh, I agree that it's worth the money! I just wish his pickiness wasn't what was driving up the current costs!
Beth, I've scheduled Wednesday's post to have the mac and cheese recipe. I'm so sorry I kept forgetting. I don't think my memory works too well these days. For example, I keep getting friend requests on Facebook, and half the time, I have NO idea who the people are! I have to look through old yearbooks or ask mutual friends who the heck the people are in order to figure it out! I probably shouldn't admit that publicly in case any of them stop by here...

I'm afraid what my husband would do to my cat if the cat food cost that much. Yikes! (He's not the cat lover in this family, obviously.) And unfortunately, we don't have a cat right now.
Thanks for posting the mac & cheese recipe (for all to see) - it looks fabulous!! I just wonder if my girls would eat something that didn't come from a box...
