Unexpected Blessing

Our printer died. No matter what Steven did, it just wouldn't work, which was a bit of a problem, as I had to print out and sign a recommendation letter for a student at church. (I got around that by emailing it to the young lady, having her print it at home, then bring it to me to sign.)

That was a few weeks ago. We'd been meaning to buy a new one, but we just hadn't gotten around to it.

I was at my friend Marylou's house on Saturday morning. We were sitting around talking, and out-of-the-blue she asked, "Do you need a printer?" I hadn't mentioned to anyone (other than the girl for whom I wrote a recommendation) that our printer was broken, so this really was a random question.

I said, "Yes, actually, I do."

Turns out that a local store is closing. Marylou had gone in, found an amazing deal on this printer, and bought it. But when she brought it home, her husband said they didn't need it. Because the store is closing, all sales are final. She was stuck with it, so she decided to see if any friends need it.

I offered to pay her for it. We were going to buy one anyway, after all, but she wouldn't take any money for it.

To make this story even better, when I got home with the printer, Steven was on the computer making up a new youth calendar and flyers for an upcoming event. He was just thinking that he really needed a printer! The timing truly couldn't have been better.

Now that's what I call a blessing!

THAT is a great printer! God does work in His own time, doesn't he?

Even when we don't always talk to Him, He hangs around and still does for us.

You and Steve are a wonderful couple. I love the joy you have for life and the small things that God shares. You are an inspiration.

Wonderful!

I'm constantly amazed when things like that happen. Last week, I informed a lady at church that she had been nominated to receive a prayer shawl from our ministry. She looked at me a said "Well, I'm very cold...I'd really love an afghan." Wouldn't you know that one had been donated that very morning! (And this is unusual because we normally make shawls & lap robes.)

It really brings home the fact that God is all around us taking care of our needs, large & small.
