Clue--LIVE!

Our youth group got together tonight to play a live version of the game Clue. The adults played the suspects, so we all dressed for our parts. Ruf was Col. Mustard.

I was Mrs. Peacock.

The two of us together:

The suspects were all given a sheet with clues written on it. The kids would enter a room (for example, I was stationed in the Dining Room) and make a guess. Something like, "Miss Scarlet did it in the Dining Room with the rope." I would then give them one clue based on what they said. All the clues were riddles. They would have to figure out the riddle, then go find that clue. (The riddle would lead them to the location of the clue.) As they found clues, they would check them off, thus narrowing down the list of suspects, locations, and weapons.

Would you believe that I'm a murderer?! I did it in the Hall with the wrench.

The kids all wore costumes to the game. We had some really fun costumes show up: Ace Ventura-Pet Detective, the Cat in the Hat with Thing 1 and Thing 2, a go-go girl, a pirate, a ladybug, Supergirl, Batgirl, a Chick Magnet (his t-shirt said "Chick Magnet" with Barbie dolls taped to it), Elizabeth Bennett, a cowgirl, Jimi Hendrix... There were more, but I'm drawing a blank right now. I'd love to show you pictures, but I don't feel right about posting kids' pictures on the internet without first getting parental permission. So, you can just imagine all the great costumes!

I forgot to mention that when the kids came to the suspects for clues, we had to make them do stuff for us first. Ruf made them bring him 3 skittles, which explained why I kept seeing kids run to the candy bowl, rifle through it, then race back from where they'd come. I made them spin like ballerinas, do cheerleading jumps, and sing the ABCs in operatic style. That was funny stuff!

It was a great way to spend Halloween!

That is so cute. Did you make your costume? Oh, and Col. Mustard looks hilarious. Maybe this should be your Christmas picture LOL.

I didn't make my costume. I have a friend with a bit of a dramatic flair. She sent me home with 2 different dresses, that furry-looking shawl that her husband's great-grandmother knitted, and a bag positively filled with costume jewelry. The only thing I contributed to it were the shoes, pantyhose, and peacock feathers in my hair! I think I spent about $4 for the feathers. This wound up being the easiest and cheapest costume I've ever had!

Ann, you might be interested to know that Ruf's costume is his new Imperial Officer costume. He had it made to wear in the Neiman-Marcus Adolphus Children's Parade in downtown Dallas in December. He worked hard last year to get the group into the parade, but he had trouble giving instructions with his helmet on. So, we had an open-faced bad guy costume made for him.

Yes!! I totally see it!! What a great idea :)

Was it a Christmas parade? That would be neat to see a whole crowd of stormtroopers marching down the street. Did you ever see that rocket man who suits up and has a jetpack like Boba Fett? That would be cool to have him in the parade too. We saw him at CIV, he did a demo outside and also during the CIV opening ceremony/birthday party.

Anyway, you two did a great job on your costumes!!

Yes, it's a nationally-televised Christmas parade that benefits Children's Hospital in Dallas. They weren't on TV last year, but Ruf's parade contact said they should be on TV this year. Because they were new, Neiman-Marcus didn't know what they would be like, so they didn't put them on TV. But she was impressed with them (especially after seeing them in the Rose Parade last New Year's Eve), so they've been invited back and will hopefully be on TV this time.

I don't think I've seen the rocket man. That doesn't sound familiar at all.
